Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 36655 Size: SH
  1. Remove the four bolts holding the oil filter adapter to the front cover.
  2. Remove the oil filter adapter.
  3. Remove the oil filter gasket.
  4. Remove the oil pressure valve and spring.
  5. Clean the parts in suitable solvent and dry.
  6. Inspect the oil pressure valve and the valve bore for burrs.
  7. Clean the gasket surfaces.
  8. Inspect the spring for loss of tension, replace it if in doubt.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the spring into the engine front cover.
  2. Install the oil pressure valve into the front cover.
  3. Install the new oil filter gasket.
  4. Install the oil filter adapter.

    5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil filter adapter bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the oil filter adapter bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
