MODEL/YEARS: 1992 NINETY EIGHT 1993 EIGHTY EIGHT AND NINETY EIGHT

This bulletin is an advisory concerning required maintenance of the supercharger oil level on the 3800 (L67) engine. The procedure for checking the oil level is also included. Please mark a reference to this bulletin on page 6G-1 of the appropriate service manual.

INSPECT:

------- Check oil level every 30,000 miles (50,000 km) or every 36 months.

Do not remove oil plug when the engine is warm. Removing the oil plug at warm engine temperatures can cause hot oil to overflow. This could result in oil loss and possible personal injury.

REMOVE:

------ 1. Wiring harness shield.

2. Oil plug.

Notice: The oil level should be maintained to the bottom of the plug threads. Do not use petroleum based oil. When adding oil use only GM P/N 12345982 synthetic oil or equivalent. Failure to do so may cause supercharger failure.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

INSTALL:

------- 1. Oil plug. Ensure O-ring is in place on oil plug.

2. Torque plug to 10 N.m ( 88 1b.in.).

3. Wiring harness shield.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
