BINDING INSIDE LOCK ROD TAPE AFFECTED AREA

SUBJECT: BINDING INSIDE LOCK ROD OR INSIDE HANDLE TO LOCK ROD (TAPE AFFECTED AREA WITH CLOTH (DUCT) BODY TAPE)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 "A" CAR

Application: Vehicles between the following VIN numbers may be affected:

Pontiac: M6200001 M6225636 Oldsmobile: M6300001 M6339644 Buick: M6400001 M6447102

Condition: Binding inside lock rod or inside handle to lock rod.

Cause: Hot melt glue may be stuck to the inside lock rod on the back side of the water deflector as shown, see View A.

Correction: Tape over back side of water deflector in affected area with cloth body tape (duct tape) see View B.

Procedure:

----------- 1. Remove trim panel. 2. Remove water deflector in area shown in View A. 3. Remove hot melt from lock rods. 4. Tape over hot melt and reinstall water deflector. 5. Check operation of system. 6. Reinstall trim panel.
