SUBJECT: SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE - SECTION 3C-3 - REVISED TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONTROL ARM TO CROSSMEMBER BOLTS

MODELS: 1998 CHEVROLET MALIBU 1998 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING ISSUED TO REVISE THE TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONTROL ARM TO CROSSMEMBER BOLTS (FRONT BUSHING) AND CONTROL ARM TO CROSSMEMBER BOLTS (REAR VERTICAL BUSHING) AS SHOWN IN THE 1998 SERVICE MANUAL, SECTION 3C, PAGE 3-31 FOR FRONT SUSPENSION.

THE CORRECT TORQUE SPECIFICATION SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS:

TIGHTEN

* TIGHTEN THE CONTROL ARM TO THE CROSSMEMBER BOLTS (FRONT BUSHING) TO 60 N.M (44 LB FT) PLUS 120 DEGREES ROTATION.

* TIGHTEN THE CONTROL ARM TO THE CROSSMEMBER BOLTS (REAR VERTICAL BUSHING) TO 100 N.M (74 LB FT) PLUS 180 DEGREES ROTATION.
