Power Steering Hoses Replacement 3.1L

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the line retainer as needed.

  2. Object Number: 296639  Size: SH
  3. Remove the gear inlet pipe (3) from the pump (1).

  4. Object Number: 296643  Size: MH
  5. Remove the gear inlet pipe (6) from the inlet hose/pipe assembly (5).
  6. Remove the gear inlet pipe (6) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 296643  Size: MH
  1. Install the gear inlet pipe (6) into position on the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the gear inlet pipe (6) to the hose/pipe assembly (5).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the pipe to the hose/pipe assembly to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the gear inlet pipe (3) to the pump (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the pipe to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the line retainer as needed.
  8. Bleed the air from the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Hoses Replacement 2.4L

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the line retainer as needed.

  2. Object Number: 296656  Size: SH
  3. Remove the power steering pump (1).

  4. Object Number: 296655  Size: SH
  5. Remove the gear inlet pipe (1) from the pump.
  6. Remove the gear inlet pipe (1) from the inlet hose/pipe assembly.
  7. Remove the gear inlet pipe (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the gear inlet pipe (1) into position on the vehicle.

    Tighten the pipe to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering pump (1).
  8. Install the line retainer as needed.
  9. Bleed the air from the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
