Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 177036  Size: SH
  3. Remove the caliper bracket bolts (2).
  4. Remove the caliper bracket (1).

  5. Object Number: 177068  Size: SH
  6. Remove the bushings (2) from the bracket (1):
  7. Inspect the bracket (1) for cracks.
  8. Replace the bracket (1) if necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 177063  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the new bushings (2) with silicone grease.
  2. Install the bushings (2) into the caliper bracket (1).
  3. Apply THREADLOCKER, GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to the threads of the caliper bracket bolts (2) and the mounting holes in the knuckle.

  4. Object Number: 177036  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: To ensure that the proper clamp load will be present when installed. It is important that the threads on the caliper bracket bolts, as well as the mounting holes in the knuckle, be cleaned of all debris and inspected before proceeding with installation.

  5. Install the caliper bracket (1) with the bracket bolts (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the caliper bolts to 115 N·m (85 lb ft).

  7. Install the front brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
