The rear compartment lid torque rods (1) are spring loaded. The rods are adjustable in order to increase or decrease operating effort.

1. Fully open the rear compartment lid.
2. Insert a hollow, thick wall tube into the end of the torque rod. This action will relieve pressure from the rear compartment lid hinge arm.
3. Move the torque rod in the following directions in order to produce the desired result:

3.1.	Move the torque rod (1) rearward one notch in order to increase the opening assist.

3.2.	Move the torque rod (1) forward one notch in order to decrease the opening assist.
