Removal Procedure

J 41718 Sunroof Timing Pins

    Important: This sunroof system is timed from the factory in order to automatically shut off the sunroof actuator when the window panel reaches a certain position. Do not disrupt this factory timing when removing the sunroof actuator from the sunroof module. Disrupting the factory timing may cause damage to the sunroof system. Close the window panel whenever you remove the sunroof actuator from the sunroof module assembly.

  1. Remove the sunroof window. Refer to Sunroof Glass Panel Replacement .
  2. Close the sunroof module.
  3. Remove the headlining trim finish panel. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sunroof actuator.
  5. Thread the J 41718 into the front sunroof window screw hole in order to retain the cable adjustment.
  6. Remove the sunroof actuator screws.

    Important: Verify that the J 41718 is tight and holding the cable before you remove the sunroof actuator.

  8. Remove the sunroof actuator from the module.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the sunroof actuator to the module.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the sunroof actuator screws.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the sunroof actuator screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Remove the J 41718 from the front sunroof window screw holes.
  6. Connect the electrical connector to the sunroof actuator.
  7. Install the headlining trim finish panel. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  8. Install the sunroof window. Refer to Sunroof Glass Panel Replacement .
