Removal Procedure

Notice: When adding coolant, it is important that you use GM Goodwrench DEX-COOLâ„¢ coolant. If coolant other than DEX-COOLâ„¢ is added to the system, the engine coolant will require change sooner: at 50 000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.

  1. Partially drain and recover the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 27409  Size: SH
  3. Remove the air bleed pipe retaining bolt and nut.
  4. Disconnect the hose clamp from the coolant tank hose.
  5. Pull the pipe from the coolant outlet housing.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the pipe to the coolant outlet housing.
  2. Connect the hose clamp to the coolant tank hose.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the coolant air bleed pipe retaining bolt and nut.
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten bolt to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).
        • Tighten the nut to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
  6. Refill the coolant.
  7. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
