GM Service Manual Online
For 1990-2009 cars only

Caution: Before removing or installing any electrical unit, or when a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with "live" or "hot all the times" exposed electrical terminals, disconnect the negative battery cable to help prevent personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or components. Unless instructed otherwise, the ignition switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position.

Notice: The following information on engine service should be noted carefully, as it is important in preventing damage and contributing to reliable engine performance.

When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan. Due to the small clearance between the oil pan and the oil pump screen, jacking against the oil pan may cause the oil pan to be bent against the oil pump screen resulting in a damaged oil pump screen or oil pump pipe.

Any time the throttle body or air induction tube is removed, the intake opening should be covered. This will protect against the accidental entrance of foreign material which could follow the intake passage into the cylinder and cause extensive damage when the engine is started.
