Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 740429  Size: SH
  1. Remove the cargo shade/cover.
  2. Remove the inflator access panel.
  3. Remove the right rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the liftgate sill plate. Refer to Liftgate Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  5. Remove the right rear door sill panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  6. Remove the lower seat belt anchor bolt.
  7. Release the retaining clips that retain the trim panel to the body.

  9. Partially remove the trim panel in order to remove the inflator switch from the inflator bezel.
  10. Remove the auxiliary air outlet washer and retaining nut.
  11. Feed the auxiliary air outlet through the inflator bezel.
  12. Remove the inflator bezel from the trim panel.
  13. Disconnect the the 12-volt power supply electrical connector.
  14. Remove the 12-volt power supply. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  15. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 740427  Size: SH
  1. Position the trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Install the 12-volt power supply. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Connect the 12-volt power supply electrical connector.
  4. Install the inflator bezel to the trim panel.
  5. Feed the auxiliary air outlet through the hole in the inflator bezel.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the auxiliary air outlet washer and retaining nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the inflator switch to the inflator bezel.

  11. Position the seat belt over the top of the trim panel, ensuring that the buckle is not behind the trim panel.
  12. Align the locating tabs on the trim panel to the holes in the body.
  13. Seat the clips that retain the trim panel to the body.
  14. Install the seat belt lower anchor.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the anchor bolt to 70.0 N·m (52 lb ft).

  16. Install the right rear door sill panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  17. Install the liftgate sill plate. Refer to Liftgate Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  18. Install the trim panel-rear quarter upper. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .

Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 799604  Size: SH
  1. Remove the cargo shelf.
  2. Tumble the third row seats to the cargo position.
  3. Remove the right body side window rear garnish molding. Refer to Body Side Window Rear Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the right body side window forward garnish molding. Refer to Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the liftgate sill plate. Refer to Liftgate Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  6. Remove the right rear door sill panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  7. Remove the lower seat belt anchor bolt.

  9. Release the five screws that retain the rear quarter trim panel to the body.
  10. Remove the rear quarter trim panel from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 799086  Size: SH
  1. Position the trim panel to the vehicle.
  2. Position the seat belt over the top of the trim panel, ensuring that the buckle is not behind the trim panel.
  3. Index the locating tabs on the trim panel to the holes in the body.
  4. Connect the wiring harness connector to the auxiliary power outlet.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the five screws that the retain the rear quarter trim panel to the body.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the rear quarter trim panel screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  8. Install the seat belt lower anchor.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the seat belt anchor bolt to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  10. Install the right rear door sill panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  11. Install the liftgate sill plate. Refer to Liftgate Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  12. Install the right body side window forward garnish molding. Refer to Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
  13. Install the right body side window rear garnish molding. Refer to Body Side Window Rear Garnish Molding Replacement .
  14. Return the third row seats to the upright position.
  15. Install the cargo shelf.
