Inspect the TURN fuse 10 in the IP fuse block.

Is the fuse open?

--

Go to Step 15

  1. Disconnect the turn signal lamp flasher.
  2. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) between the turn signal lamp flasher connector, CKT 1508 (LT BLU) cavity A1 and ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. Do not start the engine.

Is voltage present?

Battery Voltage

Go to Step 8

  1. Maintain the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  2. Backprobe a J 39200 DMM between connector C211, CKT 139 (PNK) cavity A2 and ground at the turn signal switch connector C211.

Is voltage present?

Battery Voltage

Go to Step 6

Locate and repair the open in CKT 139 (PNK).

Is the repair complete?

Backprobe a J 39200 DMM between CKT 1508 (LT BLU) cavity A3 at connector C211 and ground.

Is voltage present?

Battery Voltage

Go to Step 7

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1508 (LT BLU).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Exterior Lights System Check

Connect a J 39200 DMM between CKT 1508 (LT BLU) cavity A1 and the CKT 1050 (BLK) cavity B2 at the turn signal lamp flasher connector.

Is voltage present?

Battery Voltage

Go to Step 10

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1050 (BLK).

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect a J 39200 DMM between the CKT 1508 (LT BLU) cavity A1 and the CKT 1697 (PPL) cavity C1 at the turn signal lamp flasher connector.
  2. Turn ON the hazard flashers.

Is voltage present?

Battery Voltage

Go to Step 11

Replace the turn signal lamp flasher.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect C211.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between the following areas of CKT 1697 (PPL):
  3. • Cavity C1 at the turn signal lamp flasher
    • Cavity A5 in connector C211

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

1 ohms

Go to Step 14

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1697 (PPL).

Is the repair complete?

Replace the turn signal switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Standard.

Connect a J 39200 DMM between ground and the following cavities at C211, one at a time:

    • Cavity A2
    • Cavity A3
    • Cavity A5
    • Cavity A6
    • Cavity A7
    • Cavity E6
    • Cavity E7

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

1 ohms

Go to Step 16

  1. Locate and repair the short to ground in the circuit where continuity was present.
  2. Replace the TURN fuse.

Is the repair complete?
