Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fasteners securing the closeout insulator panel (3) to the instrument panel retainer.
  2. Remove the push in retainer in order to release the closeout insulator panel from the IP retainer.
  3. Turn the heater temperature sensor (2) 1/4 counter clockwise in order to remove the sensor from the closeout insulator panel (3).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the lower IP courtesy lamp.
  5. Slide the closeout insulator panel rearward in order to remove from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Set the forward edge of the insulator onto the shelf of the dash mat.
  2. Install the heater temperature sensor (2) into the closeout insulator panel (3) by turning 1/4 turn clockwise.
  3. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the lower IP courtesy lamp.
  4. Position the closeout insulator panel (3) to the IP retainer.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the fasteners in order to secure the close out insulator panel to the IP retainer.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the push in fastener in order to secure the closeout insulator panel to the IP retainer.
