Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side Outboard

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 878990  Size: SH
  1. Remove the retainer from the outboard instrument panel insulator.
  2. Disengage the outboard insulator tab from the inboard insulator.
  3. Pull the insulator from the stud.
  4. Remove the insulator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 878990  Size: SH
  1. Install the insulator to the stud.
  2. Attach the outboard insulator tab to the inboard insulator.
  3. Install the retainer.

Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side Inboard

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 778394  Size: SH
  1. Remove the outboard instrument panel (I/P) insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  2. Remove the inboard I/P insulator screws.
  3. Slide the I/P insulator from the HVAC module. Disconnect the defroster duct from the I/P insulator.
  4. Remove the inboard I/P insulator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 778394  Size: SH
  1. Position the inboard I/P insulator to the lower I/P.
  2. Connect the defroster duct to the I/P insulator. Slide the I/P insulator to the HVAC module.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Place the shift interlock cable in the notch when you install the screw to the HVAC module.

  4. Install the I/P insulator screws.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  6. Install the left outboard I/P insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
