Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  2. Object Number: 783902  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose harness (1) from HVAC control assembly.
  4. Disconnect the rear defroster control electrical connector (2) from the HVAC control assembly.
  5. Disconnect the vacuum hose harness connector (3) from the HVAC control assembly.
  6. Disconnect the blower motor switch electrical connector (4) from the HVAC control assembly.

  8. Remove the HVAC control assembly screws.
  9. Remove the HVAC control assembly from the accessory trim panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 783905  Size: SH
  1. Install the HVAC control assembly to the accessory trim panel.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the HVAC control assembly retaining screws.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Connect the blower motor switch electrical connector (4) to the HVAC control assembly.
  6. Connect the vacuum hose harness (3) to the HVAC control assembly. Secure the connector on the tab.
  7. Connect the rear defroster control electrical connector (2) to the HVAC control assembly.
  8. Connect the vacuum hose harness connector (1) to HVAC control assembly.
  9. Install the accessory trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  2. Object Number: 292725  Size: SH
  3. Remove the HVAC control assembly screws.

  4. Object Number: 603565  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the vacuum hose harness (1) from the HVAC control assembly.
  6. Disconnect the rear defroster control electrical connector (2) from the HVAC control assembly.
  7. Disconnect the vacuum hose harness connector (3) from the HVAC control assembly.
  8. Disconnect the blower motor switch electrical connector (4) from the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 603565  Size: SH
  1. Connect the vacuum hose harness connector ( 1) to HVAC control assembly.
  2. Connect the rear defroster control electrical connector ( 2) to the HVAC control assembly.
  3. Connect the vacuum hose harness (2) hose connector (3) to the HVAC control assembly. Secure the connector on the tab.
  4. Connect the blower motor switch electrical connector ( 4) to the HVAC control assembly.
  5. Align the control assembly to the I/P.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   7. Install the HVAC control assembly retaining screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  9. Install the accessory trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
