J 8062 Valve Spring Compressor


    Object Number: 62309  Size: SH
  1. Install the new cylinder head cup plug if necessary. Coat the plugs with Sealer GM P/N United States 12345382, Gm P/N Canada 10953489 or an equivalent.
  2. Notice: In order to avoid damage, install the spark plugs after the cylinder head has been installed on the engine.

  3. Install the valve.

  5. Install the valve rotators (intake valves only).

  6. Object Number: 189131  Size: SH
  7. Install the new valve stem seals. Fully seat the seals on the valve guides.

  8. Object Number: 33712  Size: SH
  9. Install the valve spring seat (exhaust valves only).
  10. Install the valve springs.
  11. Install the valve retainers.
  12. Compress the valve springs, using theJ 8062 .

  13. Object Number: 33711  Size: SH
  14. Install the valve spring keepers.
  15. Slowly release theJ 8062 from the valve/spring assembly.
  16. Inspect for proper seating of the valve spring keepers.

  17. Object Number: 33598  Size: SH
  18. Inspect the O-ring for damage. If the O-ring is damaged, replace the O-ring.
  19. Important: Do not roll or twist the O-ring.

  20. Install the O-ring.
  21. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  22. Install the coolant outlet.
  23. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 26 N·m (19 lb ft).
