Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 300142 Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  3. Remove the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.
  4. Remove the wiring harness straps from the steering column wiring harness.
  5. Remove the trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  6. Disconnect the SIR harness from the back of the fuse panel.
  7. Remove all retaining rings.
  8. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil from the steering shaft.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Ensure all fasteners are securely seated before applying needed torque. Failure to do so may result in component damage or malfunctioning of steering column.

  1. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil to the steering shaft.
  2. Install all retaining rings.
  3. Connect the SIR harness into the back of the fuse panel.
  4. Install the trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  5. Install the wiring harness to the steering column wiring harness.
  6. Install the upper and lower steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.
  7. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.

  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
