Repair the rear defogger bus bars or reattach the terminals by soldering using a solder containing the following ingredients:

    • Silver - 3 percent
    • Lead - 27 percent
    • Tin 70 - 27 percent
    • A rosin flux paste
  1. Before soldering the bus bar, buff the repair area using a fine steel wool. This removes the oxide coating that forms during the rear window manufacture.
  2. Apply a paste-type rosin flux in small quantities to the terminal and/or bus bar repair area using a brush.
  3. Ensure that the soldering iron tip is coated with solder beforehand. Use only enough heat to melt the solder and enough solder to ensure a complete repair.
  4. Do not overheat the terminal when soldering.
