Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement Delete

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 588312  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.

  3. Object Number: 588318  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolt holding the compressor hose bracket to the fan shroud.
  5. Remove the compressor hose from the condenser.
  6. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
  7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Remove the right front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.

  9. Object Number: 588321  Size: SH
  10. Remove the nut holding the compressor hose to the accumulator.
  11. Remove the compressor hose from the accumulator.
  12. Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

  13. Object Number: 588305  Size: SH
  14. Remove the block fitting nut from the compressor.
  15. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the compressor.
  16. Remove and discard the sealing washers.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 588305  Size: SH
  1. Reposition the compressor hose assembly.
  2. Install NEW sealing washers at the compressor ports.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the block fitting and the nut to the compressor.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the block fitting bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  6. Coat the O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  8. Install a NEW O-ring seal on the accumulator end of the compressor hose.
  9. Install the compressor hose and nut to the accumulator.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting nut to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the right front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement in Body Front End.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. Coat the O-ring seal with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  14. Object Number: 588318  Size: SH
  15. Install a NEW O-ring seal on the condenser end of the compressor hose.
  16. Install the compressor hose and nut to the condenser.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  18. Install the compressor hose bracket and bolt to the fan shroud.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor hose bracket bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  20. Connect the refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
  21. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  22. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
