Did you perform the TPM Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the TIM Reset Switch parameter in the Chassis data display list.
  4. Press the tire pressure monitor reset switch.

Does the scan tool display On when the switch is pressed?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the oil life/TIM reset switch.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the tire pressure monitor reset signal circuit of the reset switch and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the TIM Reset Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display On?

Go to Step 6

Test the tire pressure monitor reset signal circuit of the reset switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the TIM reset switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the TIM reset switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the TIM reset switch. Refer to oil life/TIM Reset Switch Replacement (if equipped) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
