Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 510441  Size: SH
  3. Remove the transmission converter cover bolts and cover.
  4. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  5. Object Number: 475919  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 3 bolts one at a time that attach the converter to the flywheel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 475919  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the bolts that attach the converter to the flywheel one at a time.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 62 N·m (46 lb ft). Re-torque the first bolts after all 3 bolts have been tightened.

  3. Install the converter cover and bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
