Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 182625  Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper screws from the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  2. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate from the instrument panel pulling up and out to release the lower retainers.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the trip reset switch.
  4. Remove the trip reset switch from the instrument panel cluster trim plate, using a small flat-bladed tool, if required.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the trip reset switch to the instrument panel cluster trim plate, pressing into place until fully seated, if required.
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the trip reset switch.
  3. Position the instrument panel cluster trim plate retainer tabs to the slots in the instrument panel pressing down and in until fully seated.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the upper screws to the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel cluster trim plate upper screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the steering column upper trim cover to access the lower screws to the instrument panel cluster trim plate. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering.

  2. Object Number: 737621  Size: SH
  3. Remove the lower screws from the instrument panel cluster trim plate.

  4. Object Number: 622375  Size: SH
  5. Remove the upper screws from the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  6. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate from the instrument panel.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 622375  Size: SH
  1. Position the instrument panel cluster trim plate tabs to the retainers on the instrument panel cluster.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   3. Install the upper screws to the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel cluster trim plate upper screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the lower screws to the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the instrument panel cluster trim plate upper screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
