Radiator Surge Tank Replacement old

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Recover the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  3. Object Number: 499137  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the hoses.
  5. Remove the radiator surge tank bolt and tank.

  6. Object Number: 499132  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the low coolant switch connector from the surge tank.

  8. Object Number: 499129  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the coolant return hose.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the low coolant switch to the tank.
  2. Place the tank in the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolt.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the surge tank bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the coolant return hose

  7. Object Number: 499137  Size: SH
  8. Connect the coolant hoses to the radiator surge tank.

  9. Object Number: 499132  Size: SH
  10. Connect the low coolant connector.
  11. Fill the cooling system at the radiator surge tank. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  13. Inspect for leaks.
