Two new tools, J 44339--Reverse Synchronizer Installer and J 44340--Output Shaft Bearing Installer, were developed and released for use on the New Venture 1500 manual transmission. The tools allow for proper installation of the reverse/1st speed gear synchronizer hub assembly and the installation of the output shaft bearing.
The correct use of these tools is available in the Manual Transmission - NV1500 Transmission Assemble procedure of the 2000 MY Transmission/Transaxle Unit Repair Manual.
The following two steps and graphics show the proper use of the new tools. Previous installation procedures referenced J 22873.
Using the J 44339, Reverse Synchronizer Installer (1), install the fifth reverse synchronizer assembly. Ensure the synchronizer hub is seated completely on the mainshaft.
Using the J 44340, Output Shaft Bearing Installer (1), install the output shaft bearing. Ensure that the bearing is completely installed on the mainshaft.
The tools can be used on 1996 to present NV1500 transmissions used in the S model pickups.
