  1. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  2. Observe the temperature gauge indicator.

Does the temperature gauge indicator indicate a temperature beyond the specified value?

120°C (245°F)

Go to Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Always Hot

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Observe the oil pressure gauge indicator.

Does the oil pressure gauge indicate the pressure is below the specified value?

34 kPa (5 psi)

Go to Engine Oil Pressure Gauge Always Low

  1. Disconnect the multifunction alarm module.
  2. Observe the CHECK GAUGES indicator lamp.

Is the CHECK GAUGES indicator lamp off?

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter across instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal 8 and ground.

Does the ohmmeter indicate a short to ground?

--

Go to Step 5

  1. Locate the short in the wire between the multifunction alarm module and the instrument cluster.
  2. Repair the short.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Replace the Multifunction Alarm Module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement . Is the repair complete?

Disconnect the oil pressure sensor connector.

Replace the oil pressure sensor.

Disconnect the multifunction alarm module.

Does the lamp remain on?

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 19 or CKT 488 (BLU/YEL) between the instrument cluster and the multifunction alarm module.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test lamp from the oil pressure sensor connector to B+.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 8

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 7, CKT 331, CKT 383, CKT 211 (TAN/WHT), or CKT 34, CKT 466 or CKT 610 (BRN/WHT) between the oil pressure sensor and the multifunction alarm module terminal A7.

Connect a test lamp from the engine coolant temperature sensor connector to B+.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 10

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 37, CKT 96, CKT 257, CKT 23, (GRN), or CKT 33, CKT 465 or CKT 609 (BRN) between the engine coolant temperature sensor and the multifunction alarm module terminal B7.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .
