Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  3. Remove the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  4. Remove the instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Extension Trim Plate Replacement .
  5. Remove the instrument panel driver knee bolster deflector assembly. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  6. Remove the instrument panel passenger knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  7. Remove the passenger side SIR Module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  8. Remove the instrument panel upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  9. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  10. Remove the radio, if equipped. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  11. Remove the instrument panel passenger storage compartment, if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  12. Remove the heater and the A/C control. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .

  13. Object Number: 401496  Size: SH
  14. Remove the steering column wiring harness from the instrument panel carrier.
  15. Remove the nuts that retain the steering column to the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  16. Remove the instrument cluster wiring harness from the instrument panel carrier.

  17. Object Number: 328140  Size: SH
  18. Remove the bolts that retain the instrument panel carrier to the vehicle.
  19. Carefully rotate the instrument panel carrier out and downward in order to gain access to other components.
  20. Do not remove the heater and A/C vacuum harness retainers from the air ducts.

  21. Disconnect the heater and A/C vacuum harness connector at the lower right of the cowl area.

  23. Remove the bolts that retain the air ducts to the instrument panel carrier.
  24. Remove the air ducts from the instrument panel carrier.
  25. Remove the wiring harness retainers from the instrument panel carrier.

  26. Object Number: 328139  Size: SH
  27. Remove the instrument panel carrier from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 328139  Size: SH
  1. Install the instrument panel carrier to the vehicle.
  2. Install the wiring harness retainers to the instrument panel carrier.

  3. Object Number: 301649  Size: SH
  4. Install the air ducts to the instrument panel carrier.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the bolts that retain the air ducts to the instrument panel carrier.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Connect the heater and A/C vacuum harness connector at the lower right of the cowl area.
  9. Carefully rotate the instrument panel carrier in and upward in order to install additional components.

  10. Object Number: 328140  Size: SH
  11. Install the bolts that retain the instrument panel carrier to the vehicle.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  13. Install the instrument cluster wiring harness to the instrument panel carrier.
  14. Install the nuts that retain the steering column to the instrument panel carrier. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  15. Install the steering column wiring harness to the instrument panel carrier.
  16. Install the push-in fasteners that retain the radio, the heater, and the A/C wiring harnesses to the instrument panel carrier.
  17. Install the heater and the A/C control. Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .
  18. Install the instrument panel passenger storage compartment, if equipped. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  19. Install the radio , if equipped. Refer to Radio Replacement .
  20. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  21. Install the instrument panel upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  22. Install the passenger side SIR Module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement .
  23. Install the instrument panel passenger knee bolster. Refer to Passenger Knee Bolster Replacement .
  24. Install the instrument panel driver knee bolster deflector assembly. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement .
  25. Install the right hinge pillar trim panel.
  26. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel.
  27. Install the instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Extension Trim Plate Replacement .
  28. Install the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  29. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  30. Connect the battery negative cable(s). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
