Keyless Entry System Description and Operation Sedan

The keyless entry system is a supplementary vehicle entry device. Radio frequency interference or discharged batteries may disable the system.

Keyless entry allows you to operate the following features:

    • The door locks
    • The Remote trunk release - Press and hold the trunk release button to release deck lid. The transmission must be in park for this feature to operate.
    • The illuminated entry lamps
    • The panic alarm
    • Remote start (when installed)

The keyless entry system has the following main components:

    • The transmitters
    • The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) - When you press a button on the transmitter, the transmitter sends a signal to the RFA. The RFA receives the signal and sends a GMLAN serial data message requesting the appropriate function to the BCM.

Unlock Driver Door Only

Momentarily press the UNLOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Unlock the driver door only.
    • Illuminate the interior lamps for approximately 20 seconds or until the ignition is turned ON.
    • Flash all the direction indicators if the ignition is turned OFF and the doors are closed.
    • Identify the driver to the Driver Information Center (DIC). The DIC will then revert to the station presets, the last station, the last volume settings, and the last playback mode used by that driver.

Unlock All Doors - Second Operation

Momentarily press the UNLOCK button a second time, within 5 seconds of the first press, in order to perform the following functions:

    • Unlock all of the doors.
    • Illuminate the interior lamps for approximately 20 seconds or until the ignition is turned ON.

Lock All Doors

Press the LOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Lock all of the doors.
    • Immediately turn OFF the interior lamps.
    • Flash the indicators if the ignition is OFF and the doors are closed.
    • Chirp the horn if the ignition is OFF and the doors are closed.

Panic Alarm Function

A single press of the panic button performs the following functions:

    • Illuminates the interior lamps
    • Pulses the horn
    • Powers up the daytime running lamps for 2 minutes or until the following conditions occur:
       - The panic button is pressed again.
       - The ignition switch is turned to the RUN position with a valid key.

Press and hold the panic button performs the following functions:

    • The horn will sound continuously
    • The turn signals will flash

This will continue until the button is pressed again or until the key is placed in the ignition.

Keyless entry allows you to operate the following features:

    • Door locks.
    • Liftgate lock.
    • Fuel tank filler door.
    • Illuminated entry lamps.
    • Panic alarm.

The keyless entry system has the following main components:

    • Transmitters -- When a button on the transmitter is pressed, the transmitter sends a signal to the remote function actuator.
    • Remote function actuator (RFA) - The RFA receives a signal from the transmitter and sends a GMLAN serial data message requesting the BCM to perform the appropriate functions.

Unlock All Doors (second stage unlocking disabled)

Momentarily press the UNLOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Unlock all the doors.
    • Unlock the liftgate.
    • Unlock the fuel tank filler door.
    • Illuminate the dome lamp/lamps for approximately 20 seconds, or until the ignition is turned ON.
    • Chirps the horn if the ignition is OFF and the doors are closed (when enabled via customisation menu).
    • Flash the turn signal lamps, if the ignition is turned OFF and the doors are closed (if enabled via customisation menu).
    • Identify the personalization setting to the Driver Information Centre (DIC). The DIC will then revert to the last IRC, IPC, HVAC setting used previously.

Unlock Driver Door Only (second stage unlocking enabled)

Momentarily press the UNLOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Unlock the driver door only.
    • Unlock the fuel tank filler door.
    • Illuminate the dome lamp/lamps for approximately 20 seconds, or until the ignition is turned ON.
    • Flash the turn signal lamps, if the ignition is turned OFF and the doors are closed (when enabled via customisation menu).
    • Identify the personalization setting to the Driver Information Centre (DIC). The DIC will then revert to the last IRC, IPC, HVAC setting used previously.

Unlock Passenger Doors - Second Operation (second stage unlocking enabled)

Momentarily press the UNLOCK button a second time, within 10 seconds of the first press, in order to perform the following functions:

    • Unlock all the passenger doors.
    • Unlock the liftgate.
    • Illuminate the dome lamp/lamps for approximately 20 seconds or until the ignition is turned ON.

Lock All Doors

Momentarily press the LOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

    • Lock all the doors.
    • Lock the liftgate.
    • Lock fuel tank filler door.
    • Immediately turns OFF the dome lamp/lamps.
    • Flashes the turn signal lamps if the ignition is OFF and the doors are closed (when enabled via customisation menu).
    • Chirps the horn if the ignition is OFF and the doors are open (when enabled via customisation menu).

Panic Alarm Function

A single press of the panic button will perform the following functions:

    • Pulses the horn.
    • Flash the turn signal lamps.

Pressing and holding the panic button will perform the following functions:

    • Continuously sound the horn for 30 seconds.
    • Flash the turn signal lamps.
    • Illuminate the dome lamp/lamps.
    • Illuminate the outside rearview mirror courtesy lamps (where fitted).
    • Illuminate the approach lighting (when enabled via customisation menu).

This will continue until the panic button is pressed again or the key is placed in the ignition lock and turned to the ignition position.
