J 39400 Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air filter assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for 3.6L engine, or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for 6.0L engine.
  2. Remove the radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement
  3. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  5. Object Number: 1950881  Size: SH

    Important: Remove the upper radiator support brackets by raising the securing lock upwards 10mm and slide the bracket out of the radiator slide pin.

  6. Remove the upper radiator support brackets (1).

  7. Object Number: 1950868  Size: SH

    Important: Gently push the radiator and condenser towards the engine to allow removal of the plastic screw cap (1) on the right side of the condenser (5).

  8. Remove the receiver dehydrator plastic screw cap (1) from the condenser (5).
  9. Important: The circlip (2) cannot be removed if any gas pressure is present in A/C system.

    Important: To gain adequate clearance for removal of the circlip (2), use a suitable tool to gently tap the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) downwards.

  10. Remove the circlip (2).
  11. Important: Screw a suitable bolt into the threaded hole in the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3). Pull upwards on the bolt to remove the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) from the condenser (5).

  12. Remove the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) from the condenser (5).
  13. Important: Using a suitable tool, grip the lower lip on the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) and pull upwards to remove the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) from the condenser (5).

  14. Remove the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) from the condenser (5).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) into the condenser (5).
  2. Important: Make sure the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) is fitted below the circlip groove

  3. Install the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3).
  4. Important: Make sure the circlip (2) is fitted correctly seated in the circlip groove.

  5. Install the circlip (2).
  6. Install the receiver dehydrator plastic screw cap (1) to the condenser (5).

  8. Install the upper radiator support brackets (1).
  9. Install the air filter assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for 3.6L engine, or Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement for 6.0L engine
  10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  11. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400
  12. Install the radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement
