Tools Required

EN-48536 Frame Support Tool (Engine Lower 65mm Kit)

Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

1. Remove the trim plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .



2. Remove the gearshift lever boot to front console retaining screws (2).



3. Lift the gearshift lever boot (1) enough to enable a firm grasp to be made on the gearshift lever (2) with the left hand, then grasp the gearshift knob with the right.
4. While rocking the knob sideways, and with an upward force applied, dislodge the knob retaining claws from the lever.
5. Remove the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly, from the gearshift lever (2).



6. Remove the shift control assembly to shift control adapter plate retaining bolts (1).
7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
8. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .
9. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement .
10. Support the power train with a suitable jack or table.
11. Using special tool EN-48536 lower engine and transmission assembly 65 millimetres.
12. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.



13. Replace the front sub frame rear bolts and fit bolts from special tool kit EN-48536 .
14. Install the retaining bolt (1) until the stepped shank (A) is two millimetres below sub frame (2).



15. Replace the front sub frame front bolts and fit bolts from special tool kit EN-48536 .
16. Install the retaining bolt (1) until the stepped shank (A) is two millimetres below chassis rail flange (2).



17. Remove the left front and right rear retaining bolts from the transmission mount and install two retaining bolts from special tool kit in diagonal holes e.g Left hand front and Right hand rear.
18. Install the retaining bolt (2) in until a 65 millimetre gap is achieved (A).
19. Remove front sub frame middle retaining bolts.
20. Lower power train slowly until the subframe and transmission mount are resting on the retaining bolts.



21. Insert 65 millimetre spacer blocks (1) between the subframe (2) and the chassis rails (3).
22. Tension front sub frame front and rear retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb. ft).

23. Install and tension middle sub frame retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb. ft).

24. Remove suitable supporting jack.



25. Install the engine support plate (1) to the front sub frame (2).
26. Install the engine support plate to front subframe retaining bolts (3).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb. in).




27. Use a suitable tool to remove the selector shaft rod retaining clip (2) from the shift control assembly (1).



28. Remove the retaining pin (2) from the shift control assembly (1). Repeat for opposite side.
29. Remove the shift control assembly from the transmission.
30. Remove the shift control assembly from the vehicle.

1. Install the shift control assembly (1) to the vehicle.
2. Install the retaining pin (2) to the shift control assembly. Repeat for opposite side.



3. Install the selector shaft to shift control assembly rod.
4. Install the selector shaft rod retaining clip (2) from the shift control assembly (1).
5. Support the power train with a suitable jack or table.
6. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.



7. Loosen the retaining bolt (1) until the stepped shank (A) is two millimetres below sub frame (2).



8. Loosen the retaining bolt (1) until the stepped shank (A) is two millimetres below the sub frame (2).



9. Loosen the transmission mount to body retaining bolts (2) in the diagonal holes. (I.E. Left hand front and Right hand rear.)
10. Remove front sub frame middle retaining bolts.
11. Remove the spacer blocks from the front sub frame.
12. Raise the power train slowly until the front subframe and transmission mount are located on the vehicle.



13. Remove the six 65 millimetre spacer blocks (1) between subframe (2) and chassis rails (3).
14. Install the front sub frame to chassis rail retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb. ft).

15. Install the rear sub frame to chassis rail retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb. ft).

16. Install the centre sub frame to chassis rail retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 95 N·m (70 lb. ft).




17. Install the transmission mount to body retaining bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb. ft).

18. Raise the vehicle.
19. Remove supporting jack or table.



20. Remove the engine support plate (1) to front sub frame retaining bolts (2).
21. Remove the engine support plate from the vehicle.
22. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement .
23. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .
24. Lower the vehicle.



25. Install the shift control assembly to shift control adapter plate retaining nuts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb. in).




26. Install the gearshift lever knob and boot assembly (1) to the gearshift lever.
27. Align the gearshift lever knob to the gearshift lever (2).
28. Apply pressure to the top of the gearshift knob to engage into the gearshift lever.



29. Install the gearshift lever boot to front console retaining screws (2).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb. in).

30. Install the trim plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .
