Electronic Suspension Front Position Sensor Replacement HSV

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1962713  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the front position sensor harness connector (1) from the from the front position sensor (2).

  5. Object Number: 1962716  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the front position sensor link (1) from the lower control arm ball stud (2).

  7. Object Number: 1962719  Size: SH
  8. Remove front ball stud (1) from the bushing (2).
  9. Remove the bushing (2) from the lower control arm (4) by relieving the threaded plate (3) and rotating the bushing (2) downwards.

  11. Remove the front position sensor retaining screws (1).
  12. Remove the front position sensor (2) from the mounting position on the front cradle (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1962717  Size: SH
  1. Install the front position sensor (2) to the mounting point on the front cradle (3).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the front position sensor retaining screws (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 5 Nm (44 lb in).

  5. Place the ball stud bushing (2) on the lower control arm (4) and install the threaded plate (3) into the bushing, engaging the tang.
  6. Locate the assembled ball stud bushing (2), correctly by sliding ball stud bushing 76 mm from the inner end of the front lower control arm (4).
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the threaded ball stud (1) to the ball stud bushing threaded plate (3).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the threaded ball stud to 12 Nm (106 lb in).

  10. Connect the front position sensor link (1) to the lower control arm ball stud (2).

  11. Object Number: 1962713  Size: SH
  12. Connect the front position sensor harness connector (1) to the front position sensor (2).
  13. Install the front wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Test the ESC System. Refer to Diagnostic Starting Point - Electronic Suspension Control.
