DTC Descriptor

DTC B1240 59: CD-Player Not Responding

DTC B1245 54: CD-Changer High Temperature

DTC B1245 59: CD-Changer Not Responding

Circuit/System Description

When the ignition is turned ON, the radio performs a self test to verify if any critical malfunction exists within the system.

Conditions for Running the DTC

This DTC test runs when the radio changes from OFF to ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC B1240 59, DTC B1245 59

The CD player mechanism does not respond when requested and internal communication attempts time out.

DTC B1245 54

The CD player changer reports that the mechanism is overheating.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC B1240 59, DTC B1245 59

    • The radio displays a "CD Error" message temporarily.
    • The radio will attempt a communication reset with the CD player mechanism, this will be attempted each time there is an infotainment system source change request.

DTC B1245 54

    • The radio displays a "Mechanism Overheat" message temporarily.
    • The radio will attempt a communication reset with the CD player mechanism, this will be attempted each time there is an radio source change request.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

Extended use the CD player, especially in warm weather conditions, may cause this DTC to set in the radio. Under these conditions, it may be normal for this DTC to set to prevent permanent damage to the radio circuitry and no repair should be attempted.

Circuit/System Verification

Note: Allow the entertainment system to cool if the ambient temperature inside the vehicle is in excess before proceeding with this diagnostic procedure.

  1. Ignition ON, with a scan tool clear all DTCs.
  2. Radio ON, play a known good CD and verify B1240 or B1245 does not reset.
  3. If the DTC resets, replace the radio.
