For 1990-2009 cars only
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Pull downward on the centre high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) bezel to disengage the retaining clips.
- Pull the CHMSL bracket down as far as possible.
- Remove the lens assembly (1) from the CHMSL (2) by unclipping the retaining lugs.
- Carefully detach the PCB (1), by lifting it upwards out of the CHMSL (2).
- Disconnect the PCB (2) electrical connector (1).
- Remove the PCB.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Important: Force is only to be applied to CHMSL bracket not the headliner assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the PCB (2) electrical connector (1).
- Attach the PCB (1) to the CHMSL (2), by sliding it downward into the CHMSL.
- Install the lens assembly (1) into the CHMSL (2) by clipping in the retaining lugs. Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.
- Install the CHMSL bezel, by engaging the retaining clips. Listen for an audible click to confirm fitting.
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Test the stop lamp bulb for the correct operation.
Important: When connecting the PCB electrical connector, make sure the tab on the connector is facing away from the PCB.
