    • J 23907 Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover
    • J 38836 Pilot Bushing Installer/Clutch

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  6. Remove the transmission assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  7. Remove the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 1986569  Size: SH
  9. Remove the clutch pilot bearing, using the clutch pilot bearing remover (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1986575  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure that the crankshaft rear oil gallery plug (1) is not a loose fit, damaged or leaking.

    Important: The correct depth (a) for the oil gallery plug is 31.2 to 31.6 mm.

  1. Apply sealant LOCTITE R 242 and install it to the correct depth, If replacing the oil gallery plug (1).

  2. Object Number: 1986577  Size: SH

    Important: Use a 5/8 inch flat washer (2) against the tool to support the bearing races.

    Important: When installed correctly the bearing should be flush with the crankshaft counter-bore.

  3. Install the clutch pilot bearing (3) to the rear of the crankshaft, using pilot bushing installer (1).
  4. Install the clutch assembly. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .
  5. Install the transmission assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement .
  6. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding .
  7. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  8. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  9. Road test vehicle for correct operation.
