Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1946893  Size: SH
  4. Remove the park brake adjustment access hole plug (1) from the brake disc (2).

  5. Object Number: 1946897  Size: SH
  6. Rotate the park brake adjuster nut (1) until all park brake shoe adjustment has been removed.
  7. Remove the rear brake caliper and brake disc. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  8. Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.

  10. Remove the park brake shoe retaining spring (1).

  11. Object Number: 1946901  Size: SH

    Important: Detach the park brake shoe (1) from the actuator assembly (2) by grasping the park brake shoe assembly (1) and pushing upwards.

  12. Detach the park brake shoe (1) from the actuator assembly (2).
  13. Remove the park brake shoe (1).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.

    Important: Attach the park brake shoe assembly (1) to the actuator assembly (2) by grasping the park brake shoe assembly (1) and spreading slightly while pulling the shoe over the actuator assembly (2).

  1. Attach the park brake shoe assembly (1) to the actuator assembly (2).

  2. Object Number: 1946899  Size: SH
  3. Install the parking brake shoe retaining spring (1).
  4. Install the wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
  5. Install the rear brake disc and rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  6. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  7. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
