Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement Gasoline Engine

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1308355  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the front bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  4. Remove the discharge hose block-to-condenser retaining nut.
  5. Remove the discharge hose from the condenser.
  6. Remove the liquid pipe block-to-receiver-dryer retaining nut.
  7. Remove the liquid pipe from the receiver-dryer.

  9. Remover the condenser mount bolts.
  10. Remove the condenser.
  11. Cap all the open lines and the fittings to prevent contamination.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1308381  Size: SH
  1. Position the condenser into the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the condenser mount bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the condenser mount bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Install a new O-ring onto the high-pressure pipe mounting block fitting on the receiver-dryer.
  6. Install the liquid pipe into the receiver-dryer.
  7. Install the liquid pipe block-to-receiver-dryer retaining nut.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the liquid pipe block-to-receiver-dryer retaining nut to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  9. Install a new O-ring onto the discharge hose connecting block fitting.
  10. Install the discharge hose fitting into the condenser.
  11. Install the discharge hose connecting block-to-condenser retaining nut at the condenser connecting block.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the refrigerant discharge hose block-to-condenser retaining nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  13. Install the front bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
  15. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  16. Operate the HVAC control to verify the proper function of the heating and cooling systems.

Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement Diesel Engine

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the front bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  4. Remove the discharge hose block-to-condenser retaining nut.
  5. Remove the discharge hose from the condenser.
  6. Remove the liquid pipe block-to-receiver-dryer retaining nut.
  7. Remove the liquid pipe from the receiver-dryer.

  9. Remover the condenser mount bolts.
  10. Remove the condenser.
  11. Cap all the open lines and the fittings to prevent contamination.

    Tighten the condenser mount bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  10. Install the discharge hose fitting into the condenser.
  11. Install the discharge hose connecting block-to-condenser retaining nut at the condenser connecting block.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the refrigerant discharge hose block-to-condenser retaining nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  13. Install the front bumper. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
  15. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  16. Operate the HVAC control to verify the proper function of the heating and cooling systems.
