DTC B0997 3A: Auxiliary Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 2 Performance Incorrect Component

DTC B0997 33: Auxiliary Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 2 Performance Special Memory Failure

DTC B0997 36: Auxiliary Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 2 Performance, EEPROM Failure

DTC B0997 42: Auxiliary Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 2 Performance Calibration Data Set Not Programmed

DTC B0997 45: Auxiliary Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 2 Performance Variant Not Programmed

Circuit/System Description

The EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) is part of the printed circuit board housed within the radio display. It stores variables required for the operation of the entertainment system.

Conditions for Running DTC

The radio display runs the program to detect an internal fault or compatibility concern when the radio changes from OFF to ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The radio display internal EEPROM has failed or is corrupt.
    • An incompatible radio display is installed to the radio.
    • The radio display that is installed is compatible but a different type of radio display from the current learned type.

Action Taken When DTC Sets

The system will set the DTC and not function.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.

Diagnostic Aids

This DTC may be an indication that the radio display was installed in the vehicle, or that the radio display was replaced without reprogramming with the new information.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Verify that DTC B0997 is not set.
  2. If the DTC is set, reprogram the radio. If the DTC resets, replace the radio display.
