DTC Descriptor

DTC B1010 5A: System Sensor Data Mismatch Invalid Odometer Signal.

Diagnostic Fault Information

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle- Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

Circuit/System Description

The navigation interface module (NIM) communicates with the body control module (BCM) to receive odometer data via the GMLAN. When there is an error regarding data supplied, this DTC will set in the NIM.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The radio must detect one of the following power modes:

    • System voltage is between 9-16 volts.
    • Engine is running.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

No change in the odometer pulse counter for 100 seconds while the vehicle is driven at speed above 40Km/h.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The DTC can be cleared using a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

The odometer signal is provided via GMLAN message sent from the BCM, any corresponding set BCM DTCs should be tested prior to diagnosing DTC B1010 5A.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Using the scan tool, select the DTC display function. Verify that DTC B1010 5A is set.
  2. If DTC B1010 5A is set, turn OFF the navigation system for 5 seconds.
  3. Ignition ON, navigation system ON, verify that the neither of the following messages are displayed: "System Sensors Data Mismatch - Invalid Odometer Signal", "Invalid Speed Signal" or "Plausibility Failure".
  4. Ignition ON, use the scan tool to clear the DTCs. Verify that DTC B1010 5A is cleared.
  5. If DTC B1010 5A is still current, replace the NIM.
