Is the vehicle equipped with a manual transmission?

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.

Can the key be turned to the OFF position and be removed?

Check the automatic transmission cable and adjust if required. Refer to Shift Control Linkage Adjustment in Automatic Transmission - 5L40-E/5L50-E.

Inspect for a faulty ignition lock cylinder.

Is the ignition lock cylinder damaged?

Inspect the ignition lock cylinder housing for wear, damage or looseness.

Is the housing worn, damaged or loose?
