Tools Required

J-22912-01 Split Plate Bearing Puller

1. Remove the snap ring (1) from the countershaft above the counter gear front bearing (2). Discard the snap ring (1).

Discard the snap ring.





Important: Place the edge of gear on press plate.

2. Using a hydraulic press and J-22912-01 , remove the counter gear front bearing and reverse synchronizer assembly as a unit (2).



3. Remove the following components from the counter shaft as an assembly:

•	the counter gear front bearing (2)

•	the reverse gear bushing (3)

•	the reverse gear (1)

•	the reverse gear bearing (6)

•	the reverse gear blocking ring (5)

4. Using a suitable tool, remove the locking ball (4) from the counter shaft.



5. Using a hydraulic press and J-22912-01 , remove the reverse gear spline and 1st gear as a unit (2).



6. Remove the reverse gear spline (1) from the counter shaft.
7. Remove the 1st gear (2) from the counter shaft.
8. Remove the 1st gear bearing (3) from the counter shaft.



9. Remove the 1st gear synchronizer inner cone (1) from the counter shaft.
10. Remove the 1st gear synchronizer outer cone (2) from the counter shaft.
11. Remove the 1st gear outer blocking ring (3) from the counter shaft.



12. Remove the 2nd gear assembly to counter shaft snap ring (1) and discard.

Discard the snap ring.





Important: Place the edge of gear on press plate.

13. Using a hydraulic press, remove the 2nd gear and the 1-2 synchronizer assembly  (2) as a unit.



14. Remove the following components from the counter shaft as an assembly:

•	The 1st/2nd gear synchronizer sleeve (2)

•	The 2nd gear outer blocking ring (3)

•	The 2nd gear synchronizer outer cone (4)

•	The 2nd gear synchronizer inner cone (5)

•	The 2nd gear (6)

•	The 2nd gear bearing (1)
