Clutch Release Bearing Replacement 3.6L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  4. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  6. Remove the transmission assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 1950898  Size: SH
  8. Pull on the release bearing (2), to release it from the concentric actuator cylinder (1).
  9. Remove the release bearing (2) from the concentric actuator cylinder (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1950905  Size: SH
  1. Clean the exposed section of the concentric actuator cylinder guide sleeve (3).
  2. Lubricate the concentric actuator cylinder guide sleeve (3).
  3. Important: Push the release bearing (2), over the concentric actuator cylinder guide sleeve (3) until it is fully installed.

  4. Install the release bearing (2) to the concentric actuator cylinder (1).
  5. Install the transmission assembly. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  6. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  8. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  9. Road test vehicle for correct clutch operation.

Clutch Release Bearing Replacement 6.0L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  2. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  4. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  6. Remove transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 1950952  Size: SH

    Important: Twist and pull the release bearing (1) to release it from the concentric actuator cylinder (3) to throw-out bearing locking tab (2).

  8. Remove the release bearing (1) from the concentric actuator cylinder (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1950955  Size: SH
  1. Clean the exposed section of the concentric actuator cylinder (4) guide sleeve (3).
  2. Lubricate the concentric actuator cylinder guide sleeve (3).
  3. Important: The release bearing (2) must lock into the concentric actuator cylinder to throw-out bearing locking tab (2).

  4. Install the release bearing (1) to the concentric actuator cylinder guide sleeve (3).
  5. Install transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  6. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding.
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SIR.
  8. Road test vehicle for correct clutch operation.
