Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) applies battery voltage to the courtesy lamps through the courtesy lamp control circuit. When any door is opened, the jam switch contacts close and the BCM receives a door-ajar input. If the BCM receives a door lock or unlock input or a rear hatch open input, the BCM will activate the courtesy lamp control circuit, providing battery voltage to all of the instrument panel (I/P) courtesy lamps, rearview mirror lamps, and rear compartment lamps. In the event that any of these lamps were to remain illuminated for more than 20 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position, the BCM will deactivate the inadvertent power courtesy lamp control circuit to prevent a total battery discharge condition.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

DTC B2615 00 will set for the following conditions:

    • The BCM detects a short to voltage, short to ground, or an open/high resistance in the courtesy lamps control circuit.
    • The BCM detects a short to ground or an open/high resistance in the CTSY/TRN SIG RT FRT fuse B+ circuit terminal 2 X4.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

The BCM will not illuminate any courtesy lamps supplied by the courtesy lamps control circuit.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
    • A history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the BCM.
  2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  3. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition OFF, connect the X4 harness connector at the BCM.
  5. Disconnect the harness connectors at the following components.
  6. • Dome/reading lamp - front
    • Dome/reading lamp - rear
    • Ignition key cylinder lamp
    • Courtesy lamp - left footwell
    • Courtesy lamp - right footwell
    • Courtesy lamp - LF door
    • Courtesy lamp - LR door
    • Courtesy lamp - RF door
    • Courtesy lamp - RR door
  7. Connect a test lamp between each control circuit terminal listed below and ground.
  8. • Dome/reading lamp - front terminal 4
    • Dome/reading lamp - rear terminal 2
    • Ignition key cylinder lamp terminal A
    • Courtesy lamp - left footwell terminal 1
    • Courtesy lamp - right footwell terminal 1
    • Courtesy lamp - LF door terminal A
    • Courtesy lamp - LR door terminal A
    • Courtesy lamp - RF door terminal A
    • Courtesy lamp - RR door terminal A
  9. Command the Interior Lamp Test ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
  10. If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  11. Reconnect each component one at a time and verify the DTC does not reset as current.
  12. If the DTC resets as current, test or replace the component responsible for setting the DTC.
