Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1241684  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  3. Important: Take extreme care to prevent any scratches, nicks, or damage to the camshaft. Such damage can impair vehicle operation.

  4. Remove the camshaft gear. Refer to Camshaft Gear Replacement .
  5. Remove the timing belt automatic tensioner bolt.
  6. Remove the timing belt automatic tensioner.
  7. Remove the rear timing belt cover bolts.
  8. Remove the rear timing belt cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1241572  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear timing belt cover.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the rear timing belt cover bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear timing belt cover bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the timing belt automatic tensioner.
  6. Install the timing belt automatic tensioner bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the timing belt automatic tensioner bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

    Important: Take extreme car to prevent any scratches, nicks, or damage to the camshaft. Such damage can impair vehicle operation.

  8. Install the camshaft gear. Refer to Camshaft Gear Replacement .
  9. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
