Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Important: Two or more keyless entry transmitters are required to ensure proper system diagnostics.

With each keyless entry transmitter, operate the keyless entry lock, unlock, and panic functions.

Do any of the available transmitters allow keyless entry function?

Go to Step 3

  1. Remove the battery from the inoperative keyless entry transmitter.
  2. With a DMM, measure the battery voltage.

Is the transmitter battery voltage greater than 2.8 volts?

  1. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) electrical connector.
  3. With a DMM, measure voltage at the keyless entry signal circuit.
  4. With a scan tool, go to RFA Link Output in the BCM Miscellaneous Outputs menu.
  5. Activate the RFA Link Output while observing the DMM.

Is voltage measured on the keyless entry signal circuit?

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the RCDLR electrical connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the RCDLR battery positive voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

At the RCDLR electrical connector, connect a test lamp between the RCDLR battery positive voltage circuit and the ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the keyless entry signal circuit for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the RCDLR. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the keyless entry transmitter.

Repair the open or short to ground in the battery positive voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
