The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

VSE2004000080

Recommendation/Instructions:

ATTENTION ALL CHEVROLET AND PONTIAC DEALERS

This message relates to the Passenger Van Accessories Second Row Center Consoles, P/N 12499243 (Cashmere) and P/N 12499244 (Gray), available for the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander and Pontiac Montana SV6. If a damaged latch is identified on a Second Row Center Console "prior" to installation in a customer’s vehicle, contact the SPAC Department at the SPO Call Center (800-433-6961) and request to speak with an RPA representative to obtain a new latch package. Warranty claims should NOT be filed for such cases, as outlined in Technical Service Bulletin 04-00-89-018. A warranty claim should only be filed if a customer returns with a damaged latch on their Second Row Center Console, as Latch Package, P/N 19130892, is now available through GMSPO. This latch package consists of a more robust latch and two fasteners.

A Technical Service Bulletin will follow relating to this issue. Revised packaging and the new latch design have also been incorporated in the Second Row Center Consoles under "new" console P/Ns:

Cashmere: P/N 12499243 (old) P/N 17801677 (new)

Gray: P/N 12499244 (old) P/N 17801678 (new)

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
