QUARTER WINDOW MODULE BRIGHT HOLDING REPLACEMENT

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986-87 SOMERSETS --------------- 1987-88 SKYLARK COUPES

Bright metal reveal moldings for the coupe quarter window module are available for service without replacing the entire quarter window module. The reveal moldings and clips are listed in group 12.113 in the GMSPO catalog as:

strip, finish exterior quarter window.

The following procedure should be used whenever it is necessary to replace this strip on a 1986-88 coupe quarter window module.

REMOVAL

1. Remove roof drip molding.

2. Using a small screwdriver, open the molding, insert plate retaining tabs, and remove the insert plate from the molding frame and the molding. Figure 1, View E.

3. Grasp the free (top) end of the bright molding and carefully remove it from the quarter window frame module at the clip locations. Figure 1, View A. Use of a long narrow screwdriver slipped in under the molding will help disengage the clips.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the required number of clips into the new molding.

2. Slide the lower end of the molding into the slot in the lower front corner of the molding frame and install the molding and clips in the molding frame. Figure 1, View A.

3. Install insert plate in molding and molding frame and bend tabs to retain.

4. Install roof drip molding.
