Rear Compartment Lid Release

The rear compartment lid release system includes the following main components:

    • The rear compartment lid latch assembly. This assembly includes an electrically-controlled release actuator and a release cable.
    • The rear compartment lid latch striker.
    • A rear compartment lid release button. For Oldsmobile, this button is mounted on the instrument panel, to the right of the steering column. For Buick, this button is located below the driver's door handle.
    • A valet switch (remote trunk release lockout switch). This switch is located in the instrument panel compartment (glovebox).
    • The keyless entry transmitter.

Pressing the rear compartment lid release button opens the rear compartment provided that the following conditions are both true:

    • The gear shift lever is in PARK or NEUTRAL.
    • The valet switch is in the ON position.

Pressing rear compartment lid release button on the keyless entry transmitter opens the rear compartment provided that one of the following is true:

    • The ignition switch is OFF.
    • The ignition switch is in RUN and the gear shift lever is set to PARK.

The valet switch disables the rear compartment lid release button. Lid release operation using the keyless entry transmitter is not affected. (The keyless entry transmitter opens the rear compartment even if the valet switch is active.)

Fuel Door Release

The fuel door release system consists of the following main components.

    • The fuel door release actuator.
    • A fuel door release button. For Oldsmobile, this button is mounted on the instrument panel, to the right of the steering column. For Buick, this button is located below the driver's door handle.

Pressing the fuel door release button releases the fuel door. The fuel door may also be opened using the manual fuel door release, located in the top of the rear compartment, on the left hand side.
