Use one of the following methods to erase the DTCs from the EBCM/EBTCM memory:

    • The Scan Tool method
    • The ignition cycle default

For either method, verify proper system operation and the absence of DTCs when the clearing procedure is completed.

The following methods will NOT clear the DTCs:

    • Unplugging the EBCM/EBTCM
    • Disconnecting the battery cables
    • Turning OFF the ignition (except on the 100th cycle of ignition cycle default)

Scan Tool Method

The Scan Tool can clear ABS/TCS system DTCs:

  1. Install the Scan Tool.
  2. Select ABS/TCS system features.
  3. Select DTCs.
  4. Select CLEAR DTCs.

The ignition must be turned OFF and the Scan Tool disconnected before a road test to check system operation and/or for a DTC resetting. This is necessary because the EBCM/EBTCM will not set DTCs and the ABS/TCS control functions may not be available when the Scan Tool is installed and monitoring the system. The Scan Tool will log DTCs during some of the diagnostic routines, which are described later.

Ignition Cycle Default

If the ignition is cycled 100 times without a particular malfunction reappearing, the EBCM/EBTCM memory will erase that DTC. The ignition cycle counter in the EBCM/EBTCM will be reset to zero.
