Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement Main BPMV Bracket

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the BPMV.
  2. • For Buick with TCS, refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
    • For Buick without TCS, refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
    • For Oldsmobile, refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
  3. Remove the BPMV bracket retaining nuts.
  4. Remove the BPMV bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the BPMV bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the BPMV bracket retaining nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the BPMV.
  6. • For Buick with TCS, refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
    • For Buick without TCS, refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
    • For Oldsmobile, refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .

Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement Side Rail Bracket

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the BPMV upper bolts.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the BPMV lower bolt.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Remove the side rail bracket bolts.
  6. Important: Support the BPMV while the bracket is removed in order to prevent excess stress on the brake components.

  7. Remove the bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the side rail bracket bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 26 N·m (19 lb ft).

  5. Install the BPMV upper bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the upper bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Install the BPMV lower bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
