IMPROPER IDENTIFICATION ON 32-WAY FEMALE MICROPACK CONN.

IMPROPER CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: ALL 1987 GM VEHICLES -----------------

During April of 1987, approximately 55,000 of the connectors shown in the Illustration were produced with the letters "C" and "D" reversed. This connector is used primarily for the ECM, but is also used in other areas, such as the instrument panel, power seats, and cellular phones. Service parts are also affected.

The connector will work properly, but could cause confusion if electrical troubleshooting is necessary. As shown in the Illustration, row "D" is on the same side of the connector as the "PED" logo.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
