GMWDD DEALER INSTALLED ALARM PROCEDURE FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL 1986 VEHICLES

This bulletin rescinds bulletin 86-9-14 (Ref. No. 86-177-9) which should be removed and destroyed, and this bulletin filed in its place.

GMSPO is currently marketing an aftermarket dealer installed alarm system that is not an OEM factory installed option. GMSPO warrants the parts only for 36/36 and the labor 90 days/4,000 miles.

All warranty claims processing and handling for this alarm system is to be routed through GMSPO. The labor operation T3163 which was previously issued to accommodate this claim situation has been rescinded, effective with credit cycle #734 and will reject for reason #31, Labor Operation Missing/Incorrect/Not on File.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
